BIRT Deployment Kit is a lightweight J2EE report repository with a web front-end for users to browse, select, and run BIRT reports on demand. It embeds the Eclipse BIRT Engine and its APIs. It can be implemented stand alone as an End User Reporting Portal or embedded in an application. BIRT Deployment Kit is compatible with BIRT reports developed by any BIRT designer and with reports modified by the BIRT Interactive Viewer.

Report Storage, Sharing and Security
The BIRT Deployment Kit creates a file and folder system 
to store reports, provides a customizable information console to find and run them on-demand, and secures reports with out-of the-box user administration features or through integration with external security systems.
Report Personalization
BIRT Deployment Kit automatically generates parameter pages for end users input at run time; supports multiple languages; and provides a portal from which end users can create reports using BIRT Studio and modify reports with BIRT Interactive Viewer.
Flexible Deployment Options
BIRT Deployment Kit can be implemented in two ways:
- Embedded in a custom application - to provide user access to a group of reports
- As a End User Reporting Portal - to provide a central site for users to create, run, view and interact with BIRT Reports; including access to Actuate BIRT Report Studio and Actuate BIRT Interactive Viewer
