BIRT iServer is a report server with a variety of services that deploy, manage, schedule, secure, run and distribute BIRT documents and web pages. The services can be phased in and capacity purchased to support just the services needed. It is available as a Platform-as-a-Service (BIRT OnDemand), can be implemented on premises, or installed in a cloud.

BIRT iServer provides a variety of ways to notify users that BIRT documents are available, data has changed, or certain events have occurred requiring attention.
- Alerts – users can be automatically notified when certain events occur, such as when data is updated.
- Conditional Notification – users can be notified when specific conditions are met, such as report run success or failure.
- Email Notification – users can be emailed when a report is ready to be viewed.
- Subscriptions – documents and data of common types can be grouped into channels - such as those pertaining to a particular department, geography, function, or kind of data, so that users can request to be notified or automatically receive updates when documents belonging to that group are updated, change or become available.
