BIRT iServer is a report server with a variety of services that deploy, manage, schedule, secure, run and distribute BIRT documents and web pages. The services can be phased in and capacity purchased to support just the services needed. It is available as a Platform-as-a-Service (BIRT OnDemand), can be implemented on premises, or installed in a cloud.

With an intuitive web interface, BIRT iServer lets end users to easily schedule
their own BIRT report runs, and allows administrators to set schedules based on a combination of events, business rules and calendars.
Self-serve Document Scheduling
BIRT iServer provides end users with self-serve BIRT document scheduling without training.
- Scheduled Reports – users schedule documents based on data and time with one or two clicks.
- On-demand Reports – users generate documents on demand with one or two clicks.
- File Format Selection – users can specify document format to be delivered such as HTML, PDF, and Excel.
- Email Delivery – documents can be emailed to users as attachments.
- Report Run Management – lists job schedules and status, with the ability to cancel jobs to manage load.
Parameterization
With BIRT iServer users can generate BIRT reports based on parameterized selection criteria and store their selection for future report runs.
- Data selection – users specify any level or range of data to be included in a document.
- Structure selection – users determine if data is to be displayed in a chart, matrix, or a variety of other formats.
- Automatic Parameter Page generation – users are prompted to specify appropriate parameters if desired, based on the document they select.
Event, Business Rule and Group Scheduling
BIRT iServer administrators can support complex scheduling needs with sophisticated BIRT scheduling features.
- Event Based Scheduling – documents can be run based on events, such as those occurring within the report server or in external applications.
- Business Rules Scheduling – documents can be run based on business rules, such as when a combination of data thresholds is met or when a specific period ends.
