BIRT Security
BIRT iServer is a report server with a variety of services that deploy, manage, schedule, secure, run and distribute BIRT documents and web pages. The services can be phased in and capacity purchased to support just the services needed. It is available as a Platform-as-a-Service (BIRT OnDemand), can be implemented on premises, or installed in a cloud.
Features: BIRT Security
BIRT iServer provides hierarchal role-based security with multi-level access permissions enabling organizations to ensure that users access only the BIRT documents and data they are allowed to see. A security model can be implemented stand-alone within BIRT iServer or integrated with external directory services and single sign-on systems (SSO) in multiple ways.
Hierarchical-based User Security
BIRT iServer offers hierarchal role-based security with multi-level access permissions which, when used together, provide multiple approaches for granular control over user access.
- Secure on a User Basis β access levels are determined by unique privileges assigned to the individual.
- Secure on a Role Basis β access levels are determined by the functional or hierarchical role a person has in the organization, such as their specific job or management level.
Controlled Document and Data Access
BIRT iServer provides granular user access to BIRT reports, functions and data.
- Secure Document Access β permissions determine which reports users are able to access.
- Secure Data Access β permissions determine the data that can be included in the reports users access.
- Secure Functional Access β permissions determine if users can create, generate or just view documents and if they are able to administer the server.
BIRT Page Level Security for iServer
BIRT Page Level Security is an add-on product that allows end users to share the same report, but only see that data that pertains to them.
- Page βlevel security β offers the ability to secure documents at the page level.
- Fewer documents β allows a single piece of content to be generated and deployed that addresses the secure information distribution needs of many users without creating multiple documents.
Multiple Secure Sign-on Options
BIRT iServer security can be implemented stand-alone or through integration with external directory services such as LDAP and Active Directory
- Stand-alone β user names and roles are stored in iServer, with direct user log-in to BIRT iServer.
- Individual Privileges plus Single Sign-On (SSO) β user names and roles are stored in BIRT iServer, with invisible log-in to iServer handled by external SSO.
- External privileges plus SSO β user names and roles are not stored on BIRT iServer, with invisible log-in to BIRT iServer handled by external SSO.
