Default Ghost report??

I have deleted a report from my file system. It still shows up as a tab on my edit window, but I cannot get rid of it, Don't know if it is causing other issues , I can close it in a session but it keeps reappearing when I start up. Any ideas how to really clean the workspace?

Hi Dartdog,

I have not heard or seen a problem like that before. Have you navigated to the workspace outside the designer to see if it's still there somehow? What version of BIRT/Eclipse are you using?

Default Have looked in the workspace

In the actual workspace the report design file is gone, I only have the current report remaining in the space so I'm wondering if there is something in the metadata file (in the workspace), or if there is another location. I get an error message in Eclipse/ Birt to the effect that the file does not exist, and do I want to close or exit the editor, either way the Ghost closes only to come back on the next start-up of Eclipse/ birt?

Dartdog,

I've tried creating several reports in BIRT 2.3.1 and deleting them in the designer, then reopening to see if I get the report back with your issue and have not been able to recreate it. However, if I'm in the designer and use the alt+<- keyboard command to navigate open reports, the designer does go back and try to retrieve the report that I deleted and I get the error that you're talking about.

Smile Though it was a while ago...

I think I may have deleted the report from the workspace (directly) not via the Birt interface. Hence my question as to where else the info might be,,, I'd rather not have to start a new workspace,, not that I'm sure that would clear anything up since I don't know where stuff may be stored?

At least you see some element of the problem, so maybe it will go the way of solved problems someday.! Thanks

Dartdog,

I don't know if it'll help, but you could right click on the project that the report was in in the Navigator and choose refresh. Maybe that'll clear up the issue of the report reappearing every time you open Eclipse. Worth a shot.

Default Tried it, still there on open

Closed the tab, refreshed the navigator view , closed the eclipse platform, reopened and it came back as a tab in the view window as before.

Any Idea where Birt/ Eclipse stores the "state" info? I had been under the impression that it was all in the design/working files. But it clearly has other hiding places!!

No matter how I delete a file, I can't recreate the issue you're having. Try creating a report with the same name as the one that keeps popping up and then delete it through the designer and see if that does it. The only other thing I can think of would be to do a "clean" startup through the command prompt.

Unhappy Tried it, still there on open

Set new report to same name, exit, restart eclipse, delete the new report that now appears in the resources explorer exit restart, report reappears telling me it does not exist in the file system, Sames as before!

Does not seem to be harming anything and I an close the tab for the working session...
