Products & Services Ad-Hoc & Interactive Reporting Working with the BIRT Designer for End Users, also referred to as BusinessReport Studio, end users can create charts and graphs; add, rearrange, reformat, show and hide data; and change report, row, column and cell formatting to create their own BIRT report.
The BIRT Designer for End Users is an AJAX-based tool accessed from a web browser with no client software to install. It is built on the BIRT report engine. While the BIRT Designer for End Users can edit any BIRT report, it requires a Deployment Kit or iServer Express in order for the designs to be published and shared between designers.
Business users work with pre-defined templates and themes within the BIRT Designer for End Users that are provided out-of-the box, or that developers create for them. These templates and themes define overall report layout, structure, look, and the data available to the report.
With the BIRT Designer for End User, business users can view BIRT reports and add columns, calculations, aggregations, conditional formats, filters, parameters, charts, tables or pre-built report objects; sort, group and organize data; and format columns, fonts and values. A preview feature loads data to validate the design.
The BIRT Designer for End User serves as the query and analysis tool for the business users of BIRT reports. They can select the data they want to see, apply calculations and aggregations, and control how it is displayed, filtered, and sorted.
