The downloads include open source products licensed under the Eclipse Public License as well as free and 90-day trial versions of commercial products from Actuate.
BIRT Report Designers are easy to use visual report development tools. They start with features for report and SQL developers working outside the Eclipse environment and progressively add features for programmatic control and extensibility. All BIRT Report Designers include a component-based model for reuse across designers.
These products help automate Excel reporting processes. The product line consists of a desktop report designer, a Java Spreadsheet Engine and Excel API that integrate spreadsheets in applications, a deployment kit for end users to share and store reports and a report server to schedule and secure reports.
Three products help execute and render BIRT reports. The BIRT Report Engine is a collection of Java classes and API's. The Deployment Kit is a lightweight Java EE report repository. iServer Express is a full-featured report server for scheduling and securing reports.
There are two Ad-Hoc & Interactive Reporting products. Business users can use the BIRT Report Designer for End Users to create new reports using report templates created with one of the developer-oriented BIRT Report Designers. The Interactive Viewer for End Users can be used to polish and rearrange an existing BIRT report.
