iServer Express Report Server

iServer Express is a report server that deploys, manages, schedules, secures, runs and distributes BIRT and e.Spreadsheet reports.

Features: Integration

iServer Express can operate stand-alone or be integrated with other applications. It possesses an open, standards-based architecture for integration with Web Services, enterprise applications, back-end data sources and e-business applications and platforms. iServer can adopt the look and feel of other applications while still operating stand-alone, it can be invoked via URLs embedded in other applications, or it can be integrated at a granular level using its extensive Web Services API.

Application Integration

iServer Express can adopt the look and feel of other applications, be called by other applications or act as a provider of report services to other applications including report generation, viewing, and printing; report encyclopedia management; server administration; and security and authentication services.

  • Look and Feel Integration - an editable JSP user interface can be made to adopt the look and feel of other applications; for example, ERP systems or web sites, and still operate stand-alone.
  • Hyperlinks from other Applications - iServer Express reports and functions can be called from URLs in other web applications; for example, to embed reports in other applications.
  • Provider of Reporting Services - 100% of iServer Express functions can be accessed by external applications via SOAP calls to the Web Services API or by using the published WSDL descriptions.

Leveraging Existing Infrastructure

When an existing infrastructure is in place, iServer Express can leverage the external technology stack including security systems, data sources, and web infrastructure. With its URL-based architecture, pure SOAP5-based Web Services API, seamless integration with J2EE and support for open Web standards, any Actuate iServer Express service can be easily embedded into even the most complex environment.

  • Security - the iServer Express security model offers the option to leverage external security systems and supports single sign-on when not operating stand-alone.
  • Data Sources - iServer Express can access a variety of data sources including JDBC, XML, flat files, POJOs, scripted data sources or custom sources by using its web services API or the Eclipse Data Tools Open Data Access framework.
  • Additional Systems - iServer Express integrates with a variety of other infrastructure products, including web application servers, system management tools, portal servers, business process automation and workflow engines, enterprise social networking platforms, team collaboration software and other service-oriented applications.
